The Great British Escape
A clockwise UK circuit, shaped by quiet places.
The Great British Escape is a continuous clockwise loop around the UK — linking together calm coastal,
countryside and inland stops chosen for space, ease and atmosphere.
It’s one route, but it can be travelled at very different paces — from a shorter road-trip style circuit
to a slower, more settled escape.
One route. Many ways to take it.
This circuit is designed to work whether you like long driving days or slow travel with plenty of pauses. The route stays the same — the pace is the choice.
Where the route goes
The Great British Escape follows a continuous clockwise loop around the UK, beginning and ending near London, and linking together quieter regions along the way.
The route is currently shaping up to pass through areas such as the South Coast and Jurassic Coast, continuing through Cornwall and Devon, then across into Wales via the Gower and the Llŷn Peninsula. From there it heads north through quieter stretches of England and Scotland — including parts of Galloway Forest, the Loch Ness region and eastern Scotland — before returning south via Northumberland, North Yorkshire and the North Norfolk coast.
Individual stops are added once they’ve been visited and feel settled enough to share.
Different paces
- Shorter trip: a week or two if you’re happy to cover longer distances and visit multiple places in a day.
- Balanced journey: a few weeks, visiting one main location per day with a few admin/rest days.
- Slower escape: longer still — staying in each region and using the route as a flexible framework.
What each stop includes
- A quiet location we’ve genuinely visited
- Practical access notes (parking, effort, basics)
- A short reflection on how it felt to be there
- A YouTube video linked to most stops
The clockwise loop
The Great British Escape follows a continuous clockwise circuit and returns to where it began. Exact stops and time spent vary depending on pace, energy and conditions — but the shape of the loop stays consistent.

Note: The journey forms one continuous loop, and is subject to change, but the videos and notes from it are shared gradually. Each stop stands alone — so you can follow the route in order, dip into individual locations, or use the circuit as inspiration for quieter UK travel.

We’ve chosen the places — how you travel them is up to you.
