Our Unexpected Luxury Experience in Bangkok
On our first journey to Thailand's vibrant capital, Bangkok, we decided to stay a bit away from the bustling city center to save some pounds. We chose a hotel slightly off the main drag but close to the metro, costing us only £27 per night—a price that seemed too modest for any high expectations.
The Arrival Surprise
Our adventure began right from our arrival. The taxi from the airport pulled up in front of what looked like a grand establishment. As we entered the hotel, we were greeted by a massive, marble-clad atrium adorned with enormous crystal chandeliers. Confused, we thought we might have ended up at the wrong place or misunderstood the pricing.
Confirmation of a Deal
At the reception, heart pounding, we inquired if they had our reservation and the total cost. The answer left us pleasantly stunned—not only were we at the right hotel, but the luxurious setting was indeed ours for just £27 per night! Our room was nothing short of a suite on the ‘business’ floor, featuring a massive desk, comfortable armchairs, and sweeping views across Bangkok.
Amenities That Amazed
The hotel didn’t just impress with its rooms but also boasted a stunning pool, a well-equipped gym, and an on-site spa—amenities that were more reminiscent of a decadent resort than a budget-friendly hotel. Housekeeping was diligent, refreshing our room daily, and enhancing our comfort throughout our stay.
A Stark Contrast
Coming from a two-week stint in a modest wooden chalet on stilts, which cost us £16 per night, the stark contrast in our accommodations highlighted just how incredible this deal was. It was a clear upgrade from our previous lodgings, proving that luxury can indeed come with a surprisingly low price tag.
